Having the privilege and honour to sit on council the past four years has allowed me growth and understanding of sustainable community needs. I approached each day with the understanding that a positive vision of responsible growth, advancing community safety and well being must remain a central focus.

City Council has made important progress in enhancing quality of life for all Kamloops residents. Looking at the continued growth of active transportation, enabling and supporting community initiatives like the assessable water park at Albert McGowan, a new mini rink at Mac Park, and Kamloops’ new skating loop all provide meaningful benefits for residents.

Positive, supportive economic growth and building for the future was and will continue to be an important aspect to community success. Progress on the Build Kamloops front was one of councils key community advancements. The Centre of the Performing Arts, the Multiplex/ TNRD library centre, and the recent announcement of land acquisition for a curling, racquet and seniors complex – all these projects advance Kamloops as a Community with Opportunity.

One of the most exciting announcement came in the form of housing: Minister Ravi Kalhon travelled to Kamloops to announce the addition of 500 homes to be built on the Columbia precinct lands. This turned out to be Kamloops biggest housing announcements ever!

As I reflect on some of the accomplishments, I remain committed to building a safe, inclusive and resilient community . Focusing on a positive vision, strengthening partnerships, and focusing on the value of clear and strategic ideas that will make Canada’s Tournament Capital Shine.
